To know Ron Hensley was to know loyalty, laughter, and love. He was a man who never met a stranger, who showed up for his family in every way, and who found joy in the simple things—a well-played round of golf, a good day on the lake, a Buckeyes victory, or time spent with the people he loved most. Ron’s greatest pride was his family, and he built a life filled with devotion, friendship, and memories that will live on in every story told and every smile shared.
Ronald Edward Hensley, of Springboro, Ohio for 52 years, was born on June 12, 1947, and passed peacefully into the gates of Heaven at his home on August 22, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Elizabeth “Billie” Hensley; daughters Kelly (Rob) Bruce, Erin (Brad) Mitchem, and Jill (Sam) Long; mother Beatrice (George) Hensley Robinson; brother Steve (Kim) Hensley; and his treasured grandchildren Logan & Karlie Winship, Tyler & Austin Bruce, Zachary & Jacob Mitchem, and Samantha & Riley Long. He will also be dearly missed by many cherished friends, including Gene Thomas, Jimmy Moore, and Bob Abernathy, who faithfully visited weekly during his final y...
Ron was preceded in death by his father, Joe Hensley, whom he missed deeply; his mother-in-law, Peggy Gribben; and his father-in-law, Paul Gribben.
A longtime member of Wildwood Golf Club in Middletown, Ron spent countless joyful hours on the course with friends who became like family. He loved hunting and fishing—especially with his dad in earlier years—and cherished time spent at Lake Cumberland surrounded by family and friends. He was also a proud member of the Springboro Eagles Aerie 4014 for more than 15 years, where he built lifelong friendships and found community.
Ron met the love of his life, Billie, on a blind date, and they married in 1966. Together they raised three daughters, who were the center of his world. He poured his heart into coaching their softball teams, attending every school event, and later carried that same passion into supporting his grandchildren—whether coaching football, cheering from the sidelines, or simply being present for every milestone.
One of Ron’s greatest joys was cheering for the Ohio State Buckeyes, a love he passed down to his children and grandchildren. Some of his fondest memories included watching games with his grandson Jake, and in recent years, he proudly attended The Game against Michigan alongside him.
The family extends special thanks to Hospice of Dayton, with Chaplain Tom providing integral spiritual comfort during Ron’s final months.
Visitation will be held at Anderson Funeral Home, 40 North Main Street in Springboro, Ohio on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 from 11 a.m.–1 p.m., with services immediately following. Burial will take place at Springboro Cemetery.
