Rosemary Powell, age 86, formerly of Dayton, Ohio, beloved wife, mother, and dedicated nurse passed away Monday, January 22, 2024. She was a graduate of Julienne Catholic High School. She then married her high school sweetheart, Richard Powell, and together they raised six children. At the age of 30, Rosemary attended nursing school at Kettering College of Medical Arts. She practiced as a registered nurse for over 30 years, first in the Labor and Delivery Department at Kettering Memorial Hospital where her compassionate care touched the lives of countless families. After moving to Florida, Rosemary continued her nursing career working in the Emergency Department of a local hospital before eventually assuming the role of nursing supervisor until retirement.
Rosemary “Mom” enjoyed sunbathing and boating in the warm Florida sunshine. She loved traveling with her husband and visiting her children and grandchildren. Those lucky to be around her enjoyed her authentic Italian cooking and her wonderful sense of humor. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lillian Marks, her husband, Richard Powell, her sister, Virginia Wheeler, and brother, Joseph Marks.
Rosie is survived by her six children, Trina (Tim) Hoskins, Tammy Kotronis, Richard (Vangie) Powell, Robert Powell, Teresa (Pat) Dolan and Tonya Mashke; 13 grandchildren, Tim, Rachel (James), Sarah (Stephen), Louie (Tara), Joey, Madison, Cody (Jen), Chelsea, Josh, Jordan, Nichol, Renee and Steven (Tiffany); and 13 great grandchildren, Tristin, James, Ashton, Allena, Jacob, Remy, Elijah, Colton, Kason, Dylan, Vada, Ariella and Autum Rose.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, January 27 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Parish in Springboro, Ohio. The family invites you to join in celebrating her life and sharing memories of her at Marion’s Piazza at their Town and Country location 50 East Stroop Road in Kettering, Ohio.
