Timothy W Hobgood

Timothy Wayne Hobgood, age 72, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026, at his son-in-law and daughter’s home in Springboro, Ohio, after a year-and-a-half battle with cancer.

Born in Arizona on September 28, 1953, Tim was raised in Jamestown, Ohio, by his late grandparents, Harley “Flick” and Phoebe Harriet Johnson. From an early age, Tim had a curious mind and a love for learning. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and figuring out how things worked. Naturally intelligent and incredibly talented, Tim truly was a jack of all trades.

At 20 years old, Tim was fortunate enough to meet the love of his life, Susan “Sue” Hobgood. They married on July 20, 1974, and together built a beautiful life and family. Over the course of their 49 years of marriage, Tim and Sue welcomed three daughters, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren—the family that became the center of Tim’s world.

Tim was a hard-working, selfless man who spent his life putting the people he loved before himself. He made sure his family never went without and was always there when someone needed him. He was a devoted husband to Sue, the absolute best father a girl could ask for, and a grandfather who loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than words could ever express.

Though Tim could be quiet until you got to know him, those who knew him best knew just how sweet, smart, and genuinely hilarious he was. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a way of making people laugh when they least expected it. He preferred the comfort of smaller gatherings to big crowds, but whenever Tim was there, he somehow made every get-together better. His presence, his stories, and his laughter will be deeply missed.

Tim was a man of many talents throughout his career. He worked as a skilled electrician before becoming a vocational teacher, where he had the opportunity to share his knowledge and mentor the next generation. He also served his community as a building and zoning inspector and was a remarkably talented draftsman and architect. There seemed to be very little Tim couldn’t figure out or fix.

Outside of work, Tim enjoyed the things that brought him happiness and gave him memories to share. He loved visiting casinos, especially with Tammy and Nick, and could spend hours telling stories about the good times they shared. He enjoyed classic country music, with The Statler Brothers among his favorites, and proudly followed the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Browns.

More than anything, Tim loved his family. His greatest legacy will not be the many things he knew how to do or the jobs he held throughout his life, but the love he gave so freely to the people around him. He taught his family through the way he lived—to work hard, take care of others, appreciate the simple things, and always be there for the people you love.

Tim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan “Sue” Hobgood, and his grandparents, Harley and Phoebe Johnson.

He leaves behind a family who will carry his memory and love with them always: his loving daughters, Sheila Brown, Julie Oney, and Tammy (Nick) Stidham; his cherished grandchildren, Taylor (Nick) Piccoli, Maggie Brown, Payton Brown, Aderianne Oney, Andrew Oney, Hayden Oney, Hunter Oney, Kara Hobgood, and Carson Reynolds; and his precious great-grandchildren, Phoebe, Noah, and Cami Sue.

Though his family wishes they could have had more time with him, they are grateful for every moment, every lesson, every laugh, and every memory.

Tim’s story will continue in the lives of the people he loved and the family he worked so hard to build. He will be missed more than words can say, but he will never be forgotten.
