

A. Dennis “Denny” Loken, 68, a resident of Springfield since 1965, died at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at Memorial Medical Center. Denny was born on September 30, 1937 in Northwood, Iowa; the son of Arnold and Sena Johnson Loken. He married Mary Helen Frisk on August 3, 1963 in Mason City, Iowa. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Iowa. He was a member of Theta Tau, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, University of Iowa Alumni Association, Illini Country Club and Fiat Allis Retirees Group. He served on many local and state Lutheran boards and committees. Denny was an active member of Luther Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was employed as a design engineer for Fiat Allis from 1965 – 1991. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, sports cars, fishing and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. He was very handy and could fix anything. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving is his wife, Mary Loken of Springfield; one son, Alan Dennis (wife, Susan) Loken of Springfield; two grandchildren: Beck and Finn Loken; two sisters: Thera Dee of Coralville, IA and Ardis (husband, Jim) Hughes of Silver City, NM and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family welcomes friends to visit from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 8, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral Ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2006 at Luther Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2600 S. 5th St., Springfield with Pastor Ron Moorman officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
