Adelaide “Addie” Antoinette Farris, 85, of Springfield, IL, passed away on September 11, 2026, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.
She was born on December 19, 1940, in Riverton, IL, the daughter of William and Garnet (Hawkins) March.
Addie worked for the State of Illinois for over 35 years at various agencies, culminating with the Data Systems Manager position at CMS. After retirement, she founded and operated the Springfield branch of Basket of Hope for 20 years, a charity that provided gift baskets to seriously and critically ill children. Addie was a longtime faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Springfield. She also enjoyed gardening, journaling and reading, especially her Bible. Thank you, Addie, for always reminding us you loved us, but Jesus loves us more!
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Garnet; and siblings, William March and Janet Davis.
Addie is survived by her daughter, Nora (Steve) Rossman of Springfield; son, John Farris of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation & Funeral Ceremony: The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 220 S. 2nd St., Springfield, IL 62701, until the time of the funeral service at 4:00 p.m., with Rev. Dr. Micheal Strong, Rev. Aaron Mueller and Rev. Michael Schuermann officiating.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 am. Monday, September 21, 2026, at Old Salem Cemetery, 5962 Old Salem Ln., Springfield, IL 62711.
