Agnes Reese

Mrs. Agnes Reese, 94, of Peoria, formerly of Springfield, died at 11:33 p.m. Monday, February 21, 2005 at Proctor Endowment Home in Peoria where she was a resident. Agnes was born September 8, 1910 in Loami, the daughter of Joseph W. and Elizabeth Cody Roth. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy. A Peoria resident since 1936, Agnes married Carroll Reese in 1942 in Louisiana; he preceded her in death on July 28, 1965. Agnes was employed as a credit manager for Montgomery Ward for thirty years and after her retirement she served as a volunteer at Methodist Hospital for over fifteen years. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Peoria and formerly attended the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Springfield. She was also preceded in death by one daughter: Betty Merrick Pruter on July 3, 1985; one sister: Catherine Neighbors and brother-in-law: Garred “Gary” N. Neighbors on February 21, 2005. She is survived by two grandsons: Thomas William (wife, Kristine) Pruter of Lincolnshire and James Allen Pruter of Phoenix, AZ; one great grandson: Thomas Cody Pruter of Lincolnshire and four nieces: Judy Kale, Patricia Bartlett, Gina Crowell and Bridget Hulen all children of her late sister, Catherine Neighbors. The family will receive friends from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2005 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 524 E. Lawrence, Springfield. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2005 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Rev. Msgr. John R. Ossola celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
