

Albert L. “Bud” Eimer, 92, of Springfield, died at 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 22, 2007 at St. John’s Hospice. He was born on October 31, 1914 in Lincoln, Illinois, the son of George and Anna Schmidt Eimer. He married Frances Sullivan on April 19, 1947 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Springfield. Mr. Eimer was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran serving in the European Theater as a 1st Sergeant and decorated with the American Defense Service Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon w 4 Bronze Battle Stars, 2 Overseas Service Bars, 1 Service Stripe, Good Conduct Medal and Bronze Star Medal. He retired as Assistant Manager from the Ace Hardware North location in 1979. After his retirement, Mr. Eimer was employed with the City of Springfield. Mr. Eimer was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society and the Western Catholic Union. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Marie Donath, Catherine Bracey and Elizabeth Bree and four brothers: Joseph Eimer, John Eimer, Andrew Eimer and Paul Eimer. He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty years, Frances; two sons: Stephen J. Eimer of Springfield and Robert L. (wife, Lynn) Eimer of Denver, Colorado; three grandchildren: Cameron, Nicholas and Joshua Eimer; one great-granddaughter; two step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Family welcomes friends from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2007 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos Ave., Springfield. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2007 at St. Agnes Church with Rev. Robert Jallas celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will perform military honors.
