Alexander Macpherson

Alexander E. Macpherson, 81, of Springfield, IL passed away on May 7, 2010 at St. Joseph's Home of Springfield. Alex was born in Springfield on May 31, 1928 to the late Alexander B. Macpherson and Erma Ellis Macpherson. He graduated from Springfield High School and the University of Illinois, and was a Korean War veteran. Alex had a long career in Springfield banking, starting at The Marine Bank in high school, and in 1987 he retired as Sr. Vice President after 32 years with Illinois National Bank (now PNC Bank). Alex is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marge Macpherson; his daughter, Ann Macpherson Rice, her husband David and sons Andrew and Jordan, of Tualatin, OR; his son Robert A. Macpherson, his wife and daughter, Sheridan, of Chicago, IL; nieces Susan Hampton, Julie Graves and nephew David Saner and their families, all of Springfield. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. At his request, there will be no service, and a private family celebration of Alex's life will be held at a future date with inurnment to take place at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
