

Alfred “Al” LaFountain, 78, of Chatham, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Carlinville Area Hospital. Al was born on August 9, 1936, in Carleton, MI, the son of the late Lawrence and Mary (Rivard) LaFountain. He was also preceded in death by brothers and sisters: Mary Fallon, Agnes Hummel, Larry LaFountain, Ed LaFountain, and Joe LaFountain.
Al married Betty Williamson on May 6, 1961 in Trenton, MI. They shared over 54 years of marriage together. Al proudly served our country in the United States Army from 1956-1962. After an honorable discharge from the Army, he worked for over 30 years as a field service engineer and district manager for Honeywell Co. Al and Betty are parishioners of Church of the Little Flower in Springfield. They are members of the Memorial Rehab Club, where Al knitted hundreds of hats, which were donated to local homeless shelters and other charitable organizations.
Surviving Al is his loving wife, Betty LaFountain, his sons; Todd (Dawn) LaFountain of Springfield, Scott (Taunja) LaFountain of Auburn, 6 grandchildren: Ethan, Griffin, Tyler, Macie, Carson, and Eli LaFountain, his sister Annie (Evans) McGunagle of Trenton, MI, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, May 17, 2015, from 4-6 pm at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S Koke Mill Rd. Springfield, IL 62711.
A funeral service celebrated by Father John Nolan will be on Monday, May 18, 2015, at 10 am at Bisch Funeral Home West.
Burial will follow at Chatham Cemetery where military honors will be performed by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
Those who wish may leave memorials in Al’s name to the Church of the Little Flower in Springfield, IL.
