

Alice was born in Chicago on March 24, 1922, the daughter of Walter and Agnes Gregerson. She met her husband, George Day, while on vacation at a dude ranch in Estes Park, CO. They were married on August 18, 1942. He preceded her in death on April 21, 1996.
All her life, Alice sought ways to help others. Whether she was residing in Springfield, IL, Sugarloaf Key, FL, Stuart, FL, or Laguna Woods, CA, she found many ways to volunteer; she was a Cub Scout leader, Girl Scout leader, hospital Pink Lady, Friendly Visitors volunteer, a member of King’s Daughters, Junior League, Illini Country Club, First Presbyterian Church in Springfield, Peace Presbyterian Church in Stuart, FL, Stuart Yacht and Country Club, and Geneva Presbyterian Church in CA. Whenever possible, she was scheduling a bridge game. Alice loved life and loved to laugh.
Alice was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by a daughter, Gene (husband, Jerry) Costello; a son Ed (wife, Linda) Day; grandchildren, Trey Costello, Geoff (wife, Staci) Costello, and Bradley Day; and two great-grandchildren, Liam and Luke Costello.
Cremation was accorded by O’Connor Mortuary in Laguna Hills, CA.
Memorial Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church, 321 S. 7th St., Springfield. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
