Alice J. Dodge

Alice J. Dodge, 90 of Springfield, died at 5:25 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2007 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. She was born on November 5, 1916 in Montgomery, Indiana, the daughter of Owen Thomas and Mary Green Creviston. She married Charles E. Dodge on February 5, 1937; he preceded her in death in 1986. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and a member of the Altar & Rosary Society. She was employed waitress and cook for twenty years for Curly’s on Wabash Avenue, and then as a waitress and cook at Gabatoni’s for thirty-years until her retirement in 1987. Alice enjoyed cooking and large family gatherings. She also loved to sing. Alice was a loving, caring and giving mother, who lived for her children and grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter: Helen Louise Dodge; infant son: Patrick James Dodge; one granddaughter: Theresa Dodge; one grandson: Patrick Dodd; three sisters and four brothers. She is survived by five sons: Charles Owen “Bud” (wife, Donna) Dodge of Girard, Edward J. (wife, Peg) Dodge of Rosemead, CA; L. Michael Dodge, David H. Dodge, and John W. Dodge all of Springfield; four daughters: Margaret Giddings of Springfield; Mary Ellen (husband, David E. ) Daniels of Springfield, Patricia (husband, Jay) Dodd and Nancy Tutt all of Loami; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will welcome friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m., with Rev. Msgr. John R. Ossola officiating. Funeral Ceremonies will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at St. Katharine Drexel Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, 1720 S. Grand Ave. E., Springfield, with Rev. Msgr. John R.
