
Alice (Tubb) Kaige, 85, of Springfield, died at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2007 at her home. Alice was born on January 27, 1922 in Obion, TN, the daughter of George E. and Lucile Merryman Tubb, who preceded her in death. She married Richard Henry Kaige on August 24, 1952 in Obion, TN; he preceded her in death on March 1, 2001. She was also preceded in death by two sons: Richard Charles and John Steven Kaige. She was a 1944 graduate and received her BA from Vanderbilt University. She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church. On March 7, 2007, she was named one of twelve influential women in Springfield (Further information may be seen at http://www.wuis.org./news/12 women.html. She was a member of the Gloom & Doomers, World Affairs Council of Illinois, League of Women Voters and Women’s League for International Peace and Freedom. She was employed by DECCA, the Governor’s Office of Manpower as a librarian 1, AFSME Staff Representative and American Civil Liberties Union as an office coordinator and Lincoln Library as an acquisition librarian. Alice was a very kind and generous lady who was committed to her family and community. She enjoyed reading and books. She is survived by one son, Robert Kaige (wife, Elizabeth Albanese –Kaige) of Bloomingdale and two granddaughters, Jillian Marie Kaige of Oxford, England and Aliana Ya Yun Kaige of Bloomingdale.
