Alice Goodroe King

She was born Aug. 10,1913 in Vivian,LA. the daughter of Robert and Rosa Ella Law Goodroe. She married Dr. J. Edward King Aug. 29,1940 and he preceded her in death in 1970.

Mrs. King was a member of First United Methodist Church,King's Daughters,Chapter EQ of the PEO Sisterhood, Springfield Ceramics and Crafts Club, Illini Country Club, Springfield Art Association and the Illinois Women's Golf Association.

She is survived by two daughters,Margaret( husband, Charles)Canterbury of Modesto,CA. and Genevieve Pittman of Springfield; son, Rev. Gerald(wife, Virginia) King of Springfield; step-son, J. Edward King, Jr. of Arlington,TX.; brother, Horace(wife, Joy) Goodroe of Livonia,LA.; grandchildren, Matthew King, Michael Pittman, Traci Canterbury and Mary Louise King; great grandson, Preston Hughes and several nieces and nephews.

The family is being served by Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel where friends may Sunday Feb. 25,2007 fron 3 to 5:00pm. Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday Feb. 26,2007 at First United Methodist Church-West with Dr. Roger K. Rominger officiating. Interment will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
