He was born in Springfield, IL, Feb. 5, 1937 the son of Homer and Helen (Danley) Sharp. Allan served in the United States Army and was a graduate of DeVry Institute.
Allan worked as a driver for Be-Mac Truck Lines and then retire from Holland America Transportation. He was an avid general outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He loved animals and was especially fond of dogs. Allan looked forward to the weekly Friday night card games with his life partner, Joan Smith and other friends.
He is survived by his Life Partner, Joan Smith of Pinckneyville, IL, his son, Randy W. Sharp of Decatur, IL, his daughter, Helen L. Bernardi of Springfield, IL, a step-son, Barry (Kathleen) Edwards of Bellavista, Arkansas, a step-daughter, Lisa Coulter of Pontiac, IL, seven grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Michael Sharp, a step-son Lee Edwards and a sister, Shirley Vose.
The family will greet friends at the Bisch and Son Funeral Home 505 E. Allen St. Springfield, IL from 10:00 am Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Gifford officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, near Riverton, IL. Military Honors will be provided by the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
