

Alvira L. Manes, 72, of Springfield, died at 10:17 a.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at her home. Alvira was born August 23, 1943 in Camp Mackall, NC, the daughter of Glenn Eugene and Doris Ilene Gray Furlow. She married Gaylord W. Manes on November 20, 1970 in Springfield. Alvira worked for Memorial Medical Center as a CNA, Franklin Life, and retired from Lincoln Land Community College, where she was on the janitorial crew. She enjoyed shopping, BINGO, playing lotto and slots, and enjoyed crafts. She was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her husband, Gaylord "Tiny" Manes of Springfield; one son, Kevin (wife, Amy) Manes of Springfield; two daughters, Annette Aarup-O'Neal and Tammy Allison, both of Springfield; ten grandchildren, Ashley Aarup, Amber Aarup, Brittany Manes, Anthony Allison, Alexandra Doyle, Karrie Phelps, Kevin Phelps, Zain Ridgeway, Jarred Akers, and Haylee Manes; three great-grandchildren, Anthony Allison, Jr., Americus Hudson, and Nevaeh Thompson; mother, Doris Ilene Furlow of Christopher; one sister, Glenna (husband, Floyd) Albert of Texas; and several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, with Pastor Ron Waltrip officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
