Born June 24, 1953, in Iowa City, IA, she was the daughter of Howard William Jr. and Joyce (Cooper) Webb. She married Mike Jackson in 1991 at the Dana-Thomas House in Springfield.
Amy graduated from Carbondale Community High School in 1971 and earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 1977. She was previously married to Stephen J. Knox, with whom she raised two children. After dedicating her early years to raising her family, she worked in administrative positions at the Illinois State Museum and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum Foundation until her retirement in 2015. She served for several years on the Board of Montessori Children’s House.
Amy's greatest joy was being "Mimi" to her grandchildren. She was an avid reader, a gifted writer and editor, a dedicated puzzle-doer, and active member of a local book club. She enjoyed knitting, dancing, and nature, and was known for her uncanny ability to find four-leaf clovers. She especially loved children and was delighted in their curiosity and wonder.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Howard "Howie" Webb III.
She is survived by her husband, Mike Jackson of Springfield; daughter, Megan (Shaun) Moore of Springfield; son, Daniel Knox of Portugal; grandchildren, Cameron (August) Bonacci of Salt Lake City, Utah, Ian Moore of Merrimack, New Hampshire, and Madelyn Moore and Katrina (Alex) Ackerman of Springfield; sister, Sarah (Jim) Berry of Humble, Texas; niece, Louisa Berry; nephew, Zach Berry; and several cousins.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield, until the time of the Ceremony at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Martin Woulfe officiating.
Graveside Ceremony: 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Casper Creek Natural Cemetery in Galena, Illinois.
