

He was born in Lolomboy, Bulacan in the Philippines, on August 31, 1946, to Roberto and Paciencia de la Cruz. Angelito married Mary Veloso in Chicago on May 25, 1974.
Angelito earned his M.D. from the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines. He went on to work for Genesis Medical Center in the Quad Cities for over forty years as an attending emergency room physician. In his spare time, he loved to sing, watch action movies, and travel. Angelito also loved to shop and give gifts to his loved ones. He was a member of Filipino American Association in the Quad Cities. Angelito was described as quiet, caring, generous, and had a great sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Erlinda de la Cruz, Fortunato de la Cruz, and Dr. Flora de la Cruz.
Angelito is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Jonathan (Marthe) de la Cruz of Springfield, IL; daughter, Christina de la Cruz of Amsterdam, Holland; grandchildren, Daenerys, Tamsin, and Astrid de la Cruz; siblings, Zenaida & Priscilla; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation and Mass of Christian Burial: Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Monday, March 17, 2025, at Boardman-Smith Funeral Home, 800 S. Grand Ave. W., Springfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut St., Springfield.
Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
