Anita M. Havrilka

Anita M. Havrilka, 89, of Springfield, died at 3:09 p.m. on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at St. John's Hospital. Anita was born September 21, 1924 in Bluffs, IL, the daughter of Dr. James R. and Loretta T. Colling Lucas. She married Paul S. Havrilka, Sr. on September 2, 1950 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Springfield. Anita graduated from Sacred Heart Academy. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Springfield, a devout Catholic and very passionate about her faith. Anita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, baking, embroidering, and spending time with her family and friends. Anita was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals' fan. One of her favorite times of the year was spring when she would enjoy blooming flowers, especially tulips. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Paul Havrilka, Jr.; son-in-law, Mark Atwood; two great-grandchildren, Kayden Swat and Kaylee Havrilka; five brothers, James, Bernard, Joseph, Raymond, and William Anthony Lucas; and four sisters, Dolores Esela, Lorraine Gleespen, Maureen Fleming and Nora Beiermann. She is survived by her husband, Paul Havrilka, Sr. of Springfield; eight children, Rita Havrilka, James Havrilka, Karen (husband, Harold) Beckner, Mary (husband, John) Atwood, and Carol (husband, Albert) Boggs, all of Springfield, Kevin (wife, Cheryl) Havrilka of Chatham, Mark (wife, Becky) Havrilka of Long Grove, and Lisa Atwood of Riverton; 31 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Regina Tebrugge of Springfield. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at St. Joseph Church, 1345 N. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2014 at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Steven Janoski, celebrant.
