Annette Ella Harkins

She was born in Grand Falls, Newfoundland, September 6, 1930, the daughter of Timothy and Violet (Smith) Sanger. She married Richard Harkins December 31, 1954, in Kingston, Ontario, and he preceded her in death on April 2, 1988. She was also preceded in death by her son, Timothy, her parents, and 12 siblings.

To Annette, her family was everything. She was a strong supporter of all their endeavors and found great joy in spending time with them. She enjoyed cooking and reading and found joy in keeping her home immaculate.

Annette retired in 1990 from the State of Illinois Department of Human Services where she served as a claim processor.

She is survived by her daughter, Sally (Michael) Rice of Peoria, IL, her son, Rich (LaJean) Harkins of Springfield, IL, and daughter-in-law, Jenny Harkins of Glenarm, IL. Also surviving are her seven grandchildren: Jeremy (Kyleigh) Covi of Illiopolis, IL, Ricky (Melissa) Harkins of St. Louis, MO, Camille (Jake Peters) Harkins, T. J. Harkins, both of Springfield, IL, Dani (Sirnetra) Hartt of Champaign, IL, Andrew Rice of Peoria, IL and Alex Harkins of Glenarm, IL, four great grandchildren (Kinleigh, Bryant, Geneva, and Whitaker), her sister, Marge Ward, two brothers, Roy (Doris) Sanger, Fred Sanger, and sister-in-law Donna Sanger (wife to her late brother Bill) all of Canada, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cremation Rites will be accorded. Private inurnment will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield, IL.
