

He was born May 23, 1916 in Manson, IA the son of John and Clara (Wendt) Johnson. On September 26, 1948 he married Audrey Peers in Manson, IA.
Mr. Johnson was a graduate of Manson High School. He was a veteran WWII serving in the United States Army. After the war he farmed for many years in Iowa. Mr. Johnson then worked as custodian for the Manson High School until he retired.
Mr. Johnson was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed sports, fishing, and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey Johnson of Virden, a daughter, Sally Johnson of Chatham; two grandsons, Justin Johnson of California and Jason Johnson of Chatham; two great grandsons; a great granddaughter; two great great granddaughters; and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, George, August, Richard, and Chris Johnson; and a sister, Marie Kirchoff.
Services were private. Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangement. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
