Barbara "Barb" Lynn Cody

Barb was born in Taylorville, IL on July 26, 1957, the daughter of Charlene Wasilewski and Keith Schroeder. In 2003 she married Steve Cody in Springfield.

Barb graduated from Springfield High School in 1975. She was employed by Franklin Life Insurance Company for ten years and later worked for the State of Illinois for several years. Barb enjoyed arts and crafts, making items for family and friends, and being on social media and Facebook. She also loved spoiling and caring for her 20-year-old Quaker parrot, Max, who just died last year.

She is survived by her husband, Steve Cody of Springfield; stepdaughters, Bree Cody and Taylor Dodd, both of Springfield; mother, Charlene Wasilewski of Springfield; father, Keith Schroeder of Springfield; sisters, Martha Schroeder Blackwell of Springfield and Amy (Ron) Mihalich of New Berlin; uncle, Don “Waz” Wasilewski of Springfield; mother-in-law, Priscilla Cody of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.

The family will host a private graveside ceremony at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens, IL at a later date.
