

Barbara L. Freesen, 66, of Springfield, passed away on February 7, 2022 at her residence. She was born on September 7, 1955 in Bluffs, Illinois to LeRoy Freesen and Bonnie (Blair) Freesen. She married Bonnie Miller on June 7, 2014 in Springfield and she survives.
Barb is also survived by her mother Bonnie Freesen, twin sister Beverly (Kirk) Reeves, brother David (Jeannie) Freesen and sister Linda (Terry) McFarland, four nieces: Blair, Lauren, Katie and Erin, four nephews: Luke, Tyler, Kyle and Connor, stepson Paul (Melissa) Frantz and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father LeRoy Freesen.
Ms. Freesen received her Bachelor’s Degree from Illinois College. While at IC she lettered in basketball and was captain of the tennis team. She also coached basketball and softball at Shawnee Community College.
In 1994 Barb graduated from the Illinois State Police Academy Cadet Class 89 and enjoyed a twenty six year career as an Illinois State Trooper retiring as Master Sergeant #3808. Barb assisted as a doorkeeper for the Illinois Senate, was on the Springfield City Police Review Commission, helped fundraise for the Illinois State Police Museum and was a member of the Heritage Foundation.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday February 12, 2022 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road. The family will greet friends from 11:00am until the time of service Saturday at Bisch West.
