

Barbara Ellen Christine Morris passed away on October 21, 2013. She was born to Robert J. and Rita Cannon Christine on July 19, 1952. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy, Lincoln Land Community College, and Illinois State University. Barb married James Robert Morris on July 13, 1974, and he survives her. In addition, she is survived by their two sons, Timothy J. and Daniel R. Morris, both of Springfield. Barb enjoyed all kinds of music, art, flowers, craft shows, travelling, shopping, especially with coupons, exercise, reading, trying new recipes, Bunco, and just enjoying good times with family and friends. During high school, she was a member of the SHA Glee Club and Ensemble. She also had a solo, "New York City" in Sing-Out Springfield, the local branch of the National Up With People Movement. Barb was an employee of the Department of Human Services, Disability Determination Services, for close to 38 years, retiring in June 2012. In her last position, she was a Senior Public Service Administrator for the Quality Assurance and Training Section. As a member of St. Agnes Catholic Parish, she was a Eucharistic minister and co-editor of the St. Agnes Spirit Newsletter for several years. Barb always enjoyed meeting new people. In addition, Barb is survived by her sister, Maggie (Francis) Drake of Ft. Myers, FL and her brothers, James (Brigitte) and Joseph (Lori) Christine, both of Springfield, Stephen (Pamela) Christine of Sherman, and Michael (Sherri) Christine of Pana. Barb is also survived by nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and several cousins. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 28, 2013, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos Ave., Springfield, with Rev. Robert J. Jallas celebrant, and Rev. Msgr. John R. Ossola concelebrant.
