

Barbara Ann Rhoads, 86, passed from this earth on November 10, at Concordia Care Center. She was born on Sept. 9, 1928 in Detroit, Mi. to James E. and Marguerite Gould Folsom Coe. She married Robert D Rhoads on April 9, 1949 in Detroit. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
Barbara was a homemaker and a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist. She volunteered for the Illinois State Museum and was a VIA literacy tutor for Lawrence Education Center. She was an artist, and after attending classes for many years, earned her associate of arts degree from Lincoln Land Community College with high honors at the age of 61. She and her family took many wonderful vacations in their motor homes, and throughout her life, she truly enjoyed her pets.
Barbara is survived by her husband, a son William E. of Springfield, daughters Karen, of Cobb, Ca., and Nancy Rhoads McDonald (Jerry) of Springfield, and nieces Janet Ross Cook (Mark) of Holland, Mi. and Bonnie Ross (Robert Crockett) of Corte Madera, Ca., and great nieces and nephews.
Cremation rites are being directed by Boardman-Smith Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held at the Concordia Village Care Center Chapel on Friday, November 14 at 10 am.
