Barbara G. Sharpe

She was born on August 28, 1922 in Springfield, the daughter of the late Charles and Olive (Bird) Teele. She married Frank D. Sharpe on May 17, 1959 in Springfield and he preceded her in death in March of 2005.

Mrs. Sharpe was a homemaker, a very active member of Chatham Baptist Church including the Woman’s Chapter at the church, the Women’s Mission Society, and the women’s quilting group. She was an avid volunteer in many activities. She believed in helping those in need. She never met a stranger. She will be remembered for her smile, her sparkling eyes, and her loving personality.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Beverly (husband Jim) Auten of Goose Creek, SC, Bonnie (husband Jerry) Brown of Springfield, IL, Bobbie (husband Dave) Harbarger of Rochester, IL; a son David (wife Brenda) Sharpe of Rochester; 6 grandchildren, 6 great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Samuel and siblings Paul Teele, Ruth Hugy, and Helen Burns.

Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, Springfield. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 13, 2013 from 9 am until time of the funeral service at 11 am at Chatham Baptist Church, 1500 E. Walnut, Chatham, IL 62629. The service will be officiated by Rev. Milton Bost. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to; Wyndcrest Assisted Living in Rochester, IL.
