Barbara Irene Stover

Barbara Irene Blazis Stover, 57, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center. Barbara was born on April 5, 1957, in Springfield, the daughter of Irene (Pietrzak) Blazis and the late William V. Blazis.

Barbara married Larry Stover at Christ the King Parish, in Springfield, on October 20, 1984. Barbara graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1975; she went on to graduate from Illinois State University in 1979. Barbara was a member of the Polish and Lithuanian Clubs of Springfield. She worked as a teacher and a daycare provider for years until she was blessed with her two children Keith and Sarah. Barbara was deeply devoted to her family, she loved knitting and crocheting, collecting angels, and traveling. She was a creative and musical person who played the piano and the organ. Barbara enjoyed Native American Culture and artifacts. She had a beautiful smile and loved to laugh.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 30 years Larry Stover, her children Keith and Sarah Stover, her mother Irene Blazis, brothers; Vincent (Debra) John, Fred, and Enoch (Donna) Blazis, mother-in-law Inez R. Stover, sister and brother-in- law Linda (Ronald) Schumaker, brother-in-law Ed Stover, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Barbara was also preceded in death by her father William Vincent Blazis, her sister Mary Agnes Blazis, grandparents Bruno and Eva Pietrzak, father-in-law Frank Stover, uncle Ted Pietrzak, aunt Jannie Szkutnik, and grandmother Mary Blazis.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S Koke Mill Rd., Springfield, IL 62711. The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Monday, November 3, 2014, from 4-7 pm. A funeral service celebrated by Pastor Brian Wilmarth and Monsignor David Lantz will be on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at 10 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Memorials in her Barbara’s name may be made to the American Heart Association.
