Bernadette Costa

Bernadette was born February 11, 1925 in Springfield, the daughter of Edward J. and Marie R. VonDeBur Quinn. She married Eugene C. Costa on October 29, 1949, in Springfield; he preceded her in death on July 16, 2013.

Bernadette was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and a Samaritan at St. John's Hospital Guild.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mary Elizabeth and Cecilia Catherine Quinn.

She is survived by her six children, Eugene E. Costa, Michael A. Costa, Martha M. Elafros, Elizabeth A. Kapnick, Edward Q. Costa, and David C. (Sharon) Costa; six grandchildren, Alison M. Bangs, Melissa A. Elafros, Meghan E. Kapnick, Cecie, Catie and Charlie Costa; one great-grandson, Owen Bangs; and four siblings, Virginia Schullian, Jo. Anne Quinn, John Quinn, and James Quinn.

Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 23, 2015, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 South Walnut St., Springfield. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Grant, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
