

Betsy was born in Greensburg, KY January 4, 1941 the daughter of William S. and Clarice (Squires) Stephens.
Betsy was well known in the Springfield community as an owner operator of the Green Weenie and later tended bar at Northern Lights. She was full of life and wanted everyone to be happy and enjoy their life as well. She never knew a stranger, just a friend she hadn’t met yet. She was an avid Cubs fan and loved Elvis. She loved her pride and joy, Addy and her large family. She was extremely proud of all their accomplishments.
Her parents, her daughter Billie Jo Kramzar-Downey and son Charles D. “Chuck” Helfer, two sisters, June Swallows and Joyce Smith, and two brothers, Don Stephens and Murrel Stephens all preceded her in death.
Surviving are her son, John W. (wife Jami) Stephens of Petersburg, IL, five granddaughters: Kirsta (husband Baron) Dodd, Bre Stephens, Brooklyn Stephens, Danyalle Downey, Breigh Stephens, Katie (husband Zack) Sirignano and Sam (husband Kevin) Imhoff. There are several great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Chet (wife Billie) Stephens, Wanda Saccaro, Rebecca Knoles, Bill (wife Georgine) Stephens, Kenny Stephens and Greg Stephens, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cremation rites will be accorded by the Bisch Crematory.
Services will be private.
