

She was born Jan. 21, 1926, in Springfield, the daughter of Leah White Livingstone and Clifford Allen Livingstone.
Bette attended Butler Grade School and graduated from Springfield High School in 1944. She next attended the University of Illinois, Champaign, graduating in 1948, with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. While at the university she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. Later she took additional courses to obtain a teacher's certificate.
Bette married Robert Louis Mueller October 10, 1947 at First Presbyterian Church in Springfield.
In addition to being a homemaker, Bette taught at Springfield High for one year, filling in for a teacher on sabbatical. She then was a substitute teacher and home teacher at high school level, in Springfield District 186. Her interests included tennis, Gardening and bridge.
She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church for 60 years; a member of Sangamo Club, and a former member of Illini Country Club, Springfield Junior League, Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Association, and Springfield Art Association
Bette is survived by her husband, Robert; a daughter, Ann Mueller Whitacre of Danvers, IL; sons, L. Robert Mueller (Sue Myerscough) and Allan Cronin Mueller (Pietra), both of Springfield; and six grandchildren, Jessica and Benjamin Whitacre, Sarah and Lauren Myerscough-Mueller, and Hana and Peter Mueller. Preceding her in death were her parents, and a son, William White Mueller.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 1:30 PM. Visitation will follow at Christ Episcopal Church.
