

Betty Jane Green, 90, of Springfield, formerly of Chatham, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. She was born April 23, 1926, in Chicago, to Harley and Jewel Albright Jordan. Her infant brother, Clifford, preceded her in death. Betty married James L. Green March 6, 1955 and he preceded her in death June 30, 1987. They enjoyed their years together on the square-dancing circuit, dancing and calling the movements to direct the dancers. They worked together staging weddings and sessions for Jim Green Photography for many years. Betty had a strong work ethic, and held several jobs over her lifetime. She was a receptionist at Springfield Clinic. She worked at Peases Candies; she had experience as a young woman at her parents candy shop, Judy Lynn Candies in downtown Springfield. She enjoyed golfing with friends especially at Pasfield Park Golf Course. She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Victoria (Don) Agnew of Chatham; grandchildren, Jamie (Paul) Burris Diles of Phoenix, AZ, and Derek Burris of Springfield; step-grandchildren, Sina (Jason) Agnew Sperling of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Clayton Agnew (fiance, Amanda Parks) of Phoenix, AZ; great-grandchildren, Harper, Cooper, Morgan, McKenzie, and Madison; sister, Patricia Schnirring of Chicago; nephew, David (Jan) Schnirring of Valparaiso, IN; niece, Sandra (Ken) Lossman of Chicago. Cremation rites will be accorded by Cremation Services of Central Illinois, Chatham. A private graveside committal will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery, with Pastor Paul Rose officiating.
