Betty L. McConnell, 76, of Springfield, died at 4:53 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 2003 at St. John’s Hospital. Betty was born on January 23, 1927 in Nelsonville, MO., the daughter of Ennis and Ona Bevill Staggs. Mrs. McConnell was employed as a housekeeper for Father Anthony Schmidt. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by one daughter: Becky (husband, Asaad) Judeh of Perry GA.; one son: Terry John McConnell of Springfield; one sister: Dorothy (husband, Eldon) Pugh of Quincy: one brother: Edward (wife, Connie) Staggs of Ewing, MO.; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Remains were cremated. Concelebrated Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2003 at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception with Rev. Anthony Schmidt principal celebrant. Burial will be in Missouri at a later date. The family is being served by Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
