Betty Jean Vick, 82, of Springfield, passed away on October 7, 2020 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village.

She was born on December 9, 1937 in Springfield to Doyle McCombs and Mary Ann Wilson. Betty married John DeGroot and he preceded her in death. She then married Walter Vick and he preceded her in death. Mrs. Vick is survived by three children: Julie (Michael) Reed, Becky (Kevin) Gregory and Randy (Esther) DeGroot and one daughter-in-law Loraine DeGroot all of Springfield, six grandchildren: Jillian Reed, Jonathon Gregory and Jason Gregory all of Springfield, Cindy DeGroot Ward of Lebanon, KY., Rebecca DeGroot-Jurgens and Jay DeGroot both of Springfield, one brother Tom McCombs of Berlin and one sister Ruby Alexander of Clearwater, FL. She was preceded in death by one son John DeGroot Jr.

The family will greet friends from 10:00am-11:00am on Monday October 12, 2020 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road. CDC Guidelines regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic will be observed requiring guests to wear face coverings and limiting the number of guests in the funeral home to 20 at one time. A graveside service will follow the visitation on Monday at 12:00pm at Ashland Cemetery, Ashland, Illinois and memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

My heart is breaking, I've not only had 34 years of being her daughter in law I've had the privilege of knowing her for well over 40 years. I'll never forget the look on her face when they came to John's and my house January 4 1986. John goes oh by the way I marries Loraine about 3 hours ago lol.

Over the years out at the farm we enjoyed many family get togethers. She was a very kind and loving person. I will always remember the good
old days. RIP Aunt Betty, I hope your playing cards again with Uncle Johnny and Mom and Dad.
