She was born July 13, 1934, in Springfield, Illinois, to parents Floyd Siebert and Irene (McCubbin) Siebert. As a child and into her adult years she cultivated a love for music (singing), caring for anything with four legs and tail, and eventually a high school sweetheart, Hal Walden. He was her life’s companion until his death in 1987. Following his passing, she went to college and obtained a degree focusing on gerontology.
Her work history was varied but characterized by her embodiment of the Golden Rule, an easy-going kindness, and humor. These qualities were never dimmed by the assault of declining independence and health.
She was a gracious soul, loved by many in her life’s journey, and her spirit will be missed – and yet that spirit carries on into the world.
Gratitude to all those kind souls at Mill Creek who gave compassionate care for her in her last years and to Residential Hospice for their gentle care over her final week.
