Billie “Peggy” O’Neal, 74, of Springfield, died at 7:35 a.m. on July 20, 2007 at Capitol Care in Springfield. She was born on September 11, 1932 in Palmyra, Illinois, the daughter of Lester H. and Bertha Rea Loveless O’Neal. She graduated from Northwestern High School in Palmyra and earned her teaching certificate from Western Illinois University in Macomb. She was previously employed as an administrator with CWLP and Illinois Bell. Billie enjoyed shopping, reading and collecting a variety of different items. She never forgot a birthday and enjoyed sending greetings cards. Billie was a very generous lady who genuinely enjoyed people. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by one sister: Rita Jones of Springfield; one nephew: Randy Jones of Springfield; many cousins and her good friend: Linda Nelson. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Memorial Gathering will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A Memorial Ceremony will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m., with Greg Roe officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery Mausoleum.
