

Billy Williams, 80, of Springfield, IL died at 1:35 a.m. Friday, September 9, 2005 at St. John’s Hospital. Billy was born October 26, 1924 in Springfield, MO the son of B. Oren and Mava McGee Williams. Mr. Williams was employed as a service technician for IBM and retired after 42 years of service. He served in the Army Air Corps. He was a member of Anchor Boat Club and Hidden Valley Lake and loved nature, especially fishing and bird watching. Billy was funny with a good heart and enjoyed Cardinals Baseball, Miller Lite Beer, the news, anything that flew, especially NASA, and could often be found at Top Cat’s. He is missed by one son: Mark (wife, LouAnn) Williams of Chatham; two daughters: Patti Bassett of Springfield and Jan (husband, Chris) Chiodo of Bensenville, IL; seven grandchildren: Mitchell Cain, Jenna, Nick and Vince Chiodo, Jeph (wife, Carrie) Bassett and Darci and Bria Williams; two step-grandchildren: Emily and Clarke Ladage and many friends. Family will receive friends from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral services will be at 11:00 Monday, September 12, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Reverend John Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
