Blake T. Ross

Blake Ross of Pleasant Plains, IL., passed away on January 30, 2026 at the age of 72. He is survived by his wife, Sara; son Jim and wife Amanda; daughter Ellen and husband Danny; his grandchildren Sylvie, Oscar, and Hugo; and sister Kim. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Blaine.

Blake graduated from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. He worked for the State of Illinois for more than 35 years at the Department of Insurance and Department of Healthcare and Family Services. He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed spending time in nature, especially with his black labs Crow and Jake. He had a deep curiosity about history and geography and enjoyed learning throughout his life.

Blake will be interred at Oak Ridge Cemetery. An Open House will be held from 2:00 until 4:00 on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Farmingdale Presbyterian Church for those who wish to gather and remember him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to WUIS or WILL public broadcasting.
