

Bruna F. Corredato, 94, of Springfield, died at 4:25 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at Villa East Health Care in Sherman. She was born on June 26, 1912 in Springfield, the daughter of Natale and Maria Battiston Gaio. She married Anthony P. Corredato on September 14, 1940 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Springfield; he preceded her in death. Bruna was a homemaker and an Election Judge for fifty years. She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and was active in church life with memberships in the Altar & Rosary Society and Legion of Mary. Bruna enjoyed cooking, sewing and flower and vegetable gardening. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister: Rosie Bartolazzo; three brothers: Americo, Joseph and Remo Gaio and one step-grandson: James F. Buckman. She is survived by two sons: Rev. John Corredato, C.S.V. of Edwardsville and James A. (wife, JoAnn) Corredato of Riverton; one daughter: Mary E. (husband, Donald) Buckman of Pleasant Plains; three grandchildren: Jennifer Lynn (husband, Jeffrey) Sowers of San Diego, CA, Julie Christine (husband, Stephen) Hughes of Bethleham, PA and John Joseph “J.J.” (wife, Ann) Corredato of Sherman; one step-granddaughter: Kimberly Ellen Mitchell of Daytona Beach, FL; eight great-grandchildren: Alex and Bradley Sowers, Liam and Sean Hughes, MaryKate, Michael, Sophia and Claire Corredato; two step-great-grandchildren: Jason Coffman and Travis Mitchell and one niece and many nephews. Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 19, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A Prayer Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Erickson, C.S.V. officiating. Additional visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2007 St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2119 N. 20th St., Springfield. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. following the visitation, with Rev. John Corredato, C.S.V. celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
