

Bruno Venturini, 79, of Springfield died at 3:23 p.m.on Tuesday July 6th, 2004 at St. John’s Hospice. Bruno was born November 14, 1924 in Springfield, son of Pete and Rosa Borgognoni Venturini. He married Bernadine Welch on May 15, 1948 at St. Patrick’s Church, Father James Haggerty celebrant. Bruno was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 364, Serra Club, AARP, AMVETS #10, VFW Post 755 & Catholic War Veterans-Bishop McNicholas Post 1916. He faithfully served with the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and was a former member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Bruno was a graduate of Lanphier High School. He was a WWII Army Veteran, serving three years in the European Theatre Campaign. He received four Overseas Bars, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and WWII Victory Medal. Bruno held several different positions during his employment at City, Water, Light and Power and retired as Lead Engineer in March 1982. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, James Venturini in 1980, two brothers: Ledo & Alio Verardi and two sisters, Clara Daniels and Ada Davenport. He is survived by his wife: Bernadine Venturini of Springfield, five sons: Michael Venturini of Springfield, John (wife, Carole) Venturini of Sherman, William (wife, Barbara), Dennis and Dr. Paul (wife, Amy) Venturini all of Springfield, two daughters: Rosanne (husband, Robert) Eschenfeldt of Chatham, Mary Teresa (husband, Larry Dunham) Venturini of Springfield, 13 grandchildren-Paul Eschenfeldt, Rachel Christen, Jamie Llosa, Ben Venturini, Jeremy Venturini, Jill Reynolds, William Venturini, Joseph Venturini, Jessica Venturini, Nick Venturini, Anthony Venturini, Anna Venturini, and Deanna Holt; and 4 great grandchildren. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home on Thursday July 8th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. and the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will have a walk through at 5:00 p.m. Concelebrated Funeral mass will be held at St. Agnes Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m. on Friday July 9th , with Rev. Peter Harman principal celebrant. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will provide military honors.
