C. Pepper Cook

C. Pepper Cook, 75, of Springfield, passed away on May 21, 2020 at his residence. He was born on May 21, 1945 in Cairo, Illinois to William Cook and Ernestine Smith. C married Carla Brown on August 4, 2016 in Springfield and she survives.

Preceding him in death Uncle Wendell Smith, and Son Warren Cook both of Springfield Illinois. Surviving him is Uncle Wayne Nichols, brother Ardis Bryant sister-in-laws Karen Eubanks and Charlene Alexander. Brother-in-law Robert Brown all of Springfield Illinois. Sister Sherron Jones of Florida. Children are Teresa cook, Shatriya Smith, Cherizar Golden, Thurman Whiteside, Thaddeus Brewer, William Gaines, Kenyatta Goodrich all of Springfield Illinois. IKenya Margarum of Duquoin Illinois. James Elroy Johnson of Decatur Illinois. Tanika (Thrower) Raymond & spouse Gary Raymond of Texas. Charles Cook of California. Kimberly Wilson St Louis Missouri. Tiffany Gray of East Saint Louis Illinois. Auh'Goddess Brown of Memphis Tennessee. Charzette Burnett and spouse Demarcus Burnett of Sharpsburg Georgia. There are too many grandchildren and great grandchildren to name.

Mr. Cook was a US Navy Veteran. He held a 10th Degree Black Belt and taught self-defense for many groups including the Springfield Police Department. C was a professional DJ all of his life and he performed all over the United States. He was the self-proclaimed β€œbest handyman in the world.”

Cremation rites were accorded. The cook family is hosting a "drive through" processional where friends are invited to view the memorial urn and pay tribute to Mr. Cook at 2:00pm on Friday May 29, 2020 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen Street.
