Carmen Santini, 94, of Springfield, died at 6:50 a.m. on Friday, June 24, 2016 at St. John's Hospice. Carmen was born March 2, 1922 in Springfield, the son of Joseph and Lucia Piscicelli Santini. Carmen worked as a coal miner for over 20 years and was employed with Calvary Cemetery for over 10 years. He was a member of St. Aloysius Church and was a Golden Glove boxer and amateur baseball player. He enjoyed tending to his farm animals and his vegetable garden. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Americo, Richard, Leo, Nicholas, and Riccardo Santini; and sisters, Antoinette Vespa, Mickalaine Kusturin, Irene Baietto, and Flaviette Fulgenzi. He is survived by his siblings, Arthur (wife, Pauline) Santini of Springfield, and Mary Ann Frasco of Loami and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 10:00-10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at St. Aloysius Church, 2119 N. 20th St., Springfield. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Clinton Honkomp, O.P., celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
