She was born in St. Louis, MO. November 13, 1946, the daughter of Emmet H. and Helena (Muskopf) Lansing. She graduated from Cahokia High School, Class of 1964.
Carol married George Brown June 17, 1978, and he preceded her in death August 22, 2014. She later married Melvin “Mel” Zimmerman April 26, 2019, and he preceded her in death August 2, 2023. Also preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers: Don and Jerry Lansing.
Carol retired in December 2002 from the State of Illinois Department of Financial Institutions. She was a member of Radiant Church and found great joy and comfort worshiping and participating in various activities there. She and George were well known as members and instructors of the Country Gamblers Dance Club. She and George touched many lives and made many friends throughout the years. Carol was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and loyal friend. She will be missed for her smile, her unconditional love of others, and her strong faith.
Surviving are her son, Craig (wife Ellie) Lansing of Springfield, her step daughter, Dawn (husband John) Armstrong of Chatham, her grandchildren: Natalie Armstrong, Riley (fiancé Julia Loveless) Cunningham, Mara Cunningham, Cailey (companion Devin Schluter) Lansing, Brenden (companion Cassie Gray) Lansing and Karsen Lansing, a great grandchild, two sisters-in-law Karen Lansing of Augusta GA and Kathy Lansing of Mascoutah, IL. There are several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Arrangements are in the care of Bisch Funeral Home West 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd. Springfield where family and friends are invited to a visit on Friday, August 22, 2025, beginning at 9:30 am until the time of a funeral service there at 11:30 am. Pastor Jim Austin will officiate. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery near Riverton.
The family would like to thank the entire team at Springfield Homes Manor Hill for their care and compassion for Carol during her short stay.
