Carolyn Ida Boyd

Carolyn was born December 27, 1931 in Gahanna, OH, the daughter of Henry and Selma (Pestel) Emig. She married William Boyd on July 31, 1955 in Gahanna, OH.

Carolyn was a graduate of Gahanna High School and earned a BA degree from Capital University in Columbus, OH. She was employed as a Secretary for TWA in Columbus, OH, Springfield Senior Living Center, and Memorial Medical Center Clocktower Mammography Unit. She was a member of PEO Womens Organization-Chapter LR, the Old State Capital Foundation, and Friends of Memorial Medical Center and Retirees.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Audrey Kandell; and one brother, Alvin Emig.

She is survived by her husband, William Boyd of Springfield; their children, Craig (wife, Louann) Boyd of Town & Country, MO, Keith (wife, Peggy) Boyd of St. Charles, MO, Leslie (husband, Simon) Abrahms of Kansas City, MO, and Kent Boyd of Springfield; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Frieda (husband, Jim) Eby of Dayton, OH; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:30 until 7:30 p.m. on Monday, February 2, 2015 at Boardman-Smith Funeral Home, 800 South Grand Avenue West, Springfield.

Funeral Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Christ Episcopal Church, 611 East Jackson St., Springfield with The Rev. Dr. Gregory A. Tournoux officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
