

Carolyn Patricia Fulton Long, 86, of Concordia Village, Springfield, formerly of New Berlin, passed away peacefully at 6:18 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by her children. She was born November 8, 1930 in Alexander, IL, the only child of Charles Harmon and E. Bernice Koehler Fulton. She married Roland G. Long on June 7, 1953 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in New Berlin by Rev. Ralph Fessler; he preceded her in death on November 19, 2012. Pat was also preceded in death by her parents and infant daughter, Dvonne Lynnette on July 6, 1963. She is survived by her children, DeAnn (Jay) Hardin, Derek (Carla) Long, and Denee (Scott) Scheidenhelm, all of New Berlin; grandchildren, Dylan (Diana) Hardin of Auburn, Drake Hardin, Charlye and Cydney Long, and Delaney and Duncan Scheidenhelm all of New Berlin; brother-in-law, Raymond Long of Loami; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She attended Washington Elementary School in Jacksonville, graduated from New Berlin High School in 1949 and earned her bachelors degree from Western Illinois in 1953. She also received certificates from Illinois State University and Lincoln Land Community College. She taught Home Economics at Tallula High School and did substitute teaching in Petersburg, Pleasant Plains, and New Berlin school districts. Pat also had dance schools in both Tallula and Mt. Vernon, IL. She was inducted into the New Berlin Academic Hall of Fame. Pat was baptized at Central Christian Church in Jacksonville and has been a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in New Berlin for 64 years. She was a member of the Mary-Martha Guild. She was past president of both Tallula and New Berlin Womens Club and Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. Pat was also a member of the Concordia Scholarship Board. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at McCullough-Delaney & Butler Funeral Home, 714 E. Gibson St., New Berlin. Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 10, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church, 300 E. Gibson St., New Berlin with Pastor David Benning officiating.
