Born with a determined spirit and a warm heart, Cathy faced the challenges of living with type 1 diabetes from the age of 10 with courage, humor, and grace.

A lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, Cathy could often be found watching or listening to the game, cheering on her team through winning seasons and heartbreak alike.

Cathy was also proudly a friend of Bill W. for over 40 years. Through that fellowship, she found and gave strength, hope, and support. She touched countless lives with her honesty, compassion, and willingness to help anyone who needed a listening ear or a steady hand.

She is survived by her two sons, Andrew "Joe" DeTolve (SaraAnn) and Sean DeTolve (Meghan), and her three beloved granddaughters, Aurora, Savanna, and Cecilia, who brought her immense pride and happiness. Her family will remember her as a loving mother and grandmother, a fierce supporter, and a source of steady encouragement.

The family will host a celebration of Cathy's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to share memories, laughter, and stories of a life well lived.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Cathy's honor to Breakthrough T1D (https://www.breakthrought1d.org) to support research and advocacy for those living with type 1 diabetes.
