Cecil E. Hill, Jr.

Cecil was born on June 25, 1935 in Springfield, the son of Cecil Eugene, Sr. and Phyllis Waitkus Hill. He married Sharon Lee Maxwell on May 26, 1961; she preceded him in death in 2014.

Cecil served in the United States Navy for 4 years aboard the USS Essex aircraft carrier during the Korean War. He attended University of IL Chicago. Cecil was a long-time businessman who owned and operated a sign studio called Signkraft. He enjoyed painting, wood carving, fishing, going to the cabin and was an avid sportsman, but his greatest passion was spending time with his grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his son, Jon (wife, Gwen) Hill of Cypress, TX; one daughter, Stacy (husband, Steve) Fox of Marietta, GA; three grandchildren, Zachary and Trenton Hill and Rebecca Fox; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Boardman-Smith Funeral Home, 800 South Grand Avenue West, Springfield.

Graveside Ceremony: 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
