

Chuck was born on March 13, 1933, in Lovilia, IA, the son of Charles and Maxine Fowler Argenta. He married Janet Arp on August 11, 1956, in Davenport, IA.
Chuck was a graduate of Davenport High School where he participated in the Drake Relays, winning the pole vault competition. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa. Chuck was proud to be the first college graduate from his entire family and went on to earn his Physical Therapy Certificate from the University of Iowa.
He started his career as a staff physical therapist at Middletown Hospital in Middletown, OH and moved to Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN as Chief of Physical Therapy. Chuck moved to Springfield where he started the Physical Therapy Department at Springfield Clinic and later founded Lincolnland Physical Therapy.
He served three years in the Marine Corps, including a tour of duty in the Korean War, and proudly participated in the June 10, 2014 Honor Flight. Chuck was a faithful member of the Fit Club, where he loved to work out. He was a former member of Panther Creek, Jacksonville and Oakcrest country clubs, and a longtime member of First United Methodist Church. Chuck enjoyed golf, yard work and the Saturday get-togethers with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald Argenta.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Janet; two sons, C. Kent and Kregg (wife, Ann) Argenta, both of Springfield; one daughter, Kathleen Argenta of Anthem, AZ; one grandchild, Kaitlyn Leonard of Tempe, AZ (attending ASU); and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
The family will receive friends for a Memorial Gathering from 10:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. A Memorial Ceremony will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Justin Snider officiating.
Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors.
