

Charlie was born on April 19, 1921, in Fancy Prairie, IL, the son of Abram E. and Hazel King Becker. He married Jane A. Cain on December 1, 1951, in Champaign.
Charlie proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines during the WWII and Korean War and obtained the rank of Sergeant. He then went on to earn his associate degree from Bradley University in Engineering. Charlie was employed as an engineer for over 36 years at Illinois Bell Telephone Company. He was a member of Hope Presbyterian Church, the Sangamon County Woodcarvers and a past Master member of Springfield Masonic Lodge #4. Charlie also volunteered at Memorial Medical Center for over 20 years, as well as at Sangamon Auditorium.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul E. (wife, Georgia) Becker; sister, Sarah (husband, Loren) McGary; and sister-in-law, Mary Becker.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Jane Becker of Springfield; children, Sandra Stannard of Springfield, Larry Becker of Greensboro, NC, and Melinda Becker of Springfield; grandchildren, Sarah (fiancé, Alex DeJulius) Stannard of Chicago, Grace (husband, Jacob) Ladina of Palmdale, CA, Joseph Stannard, III of Dallas, TX, and Clare Stannard of Columbia, SC; brother, Ivan Becker of Aurora, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.

Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 9:00 – 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Hope Presbyterian Church, 2211 Wabash Ave., Springfield.
Memorial Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Hope Presbyterian Church with Pastor Chuck Goodman officiating.
Burial will be held at a later date at Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
