Charles E. Byerly, 81, of Chatham, passed away at the Regency, Saturday, November 30, 2013. He was born March 25, 1932, in Watseka, IL to Robert O. and Helen L. Byerly. He married Sue Schertz on February 14, 1969, in Metamora, IL Chuck was a graduate of Springfield High School and the University Of Illinois. He was inducted into the Army on the 29th of October, 1952 and was honorably discharged on the 10th of August, 1954. He retired from the Department of Rehabilitation Services on December 31, 1997 after 34 years of service. Chuck is survived by his wife, Sue; son Todd Byerly; daughter-in-law Berny Byerly; daughter Laura (Jim) Ash; grandchildren Todd (Laurel) and Brenna Byerly, Ryan, Justin and Mollie Ash; and sister-in-law Kate Schertz. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Brenda Byerly. Chuck was a lifetime member of The National Rifle Association and The National Rehabilitation Association. When asked, he was always �bright-eyed and bushy-tailed�. According to his wishes no services will be held.
