Having known Charlie's daughter, Jean for over 50 years , I do have more than a few memories of him.  Most of them are at their house in Buffalo even though I was the saddest person to see them move away from Edinburg/Taylorville it was a good home he and LaVerne created there.  When Jean and I were teenagers I remember going to the Sate Fair with them and playing bingo.  I won a game and Charlie had to retrieve my winnings because I wasn't 18 yet.  He teased in his jovial way like he was going to keep the money but with his laugh and a smile finally turned it over.  At their house,  I was treated like family for birthday parties, baby and wedding showers, holidays etc. One time,  it was just Jean and I at the house.  Playing games was a fun thing they all did, so we played a family favorite  called Farkle.  I had never played so Charlie and Laverne explained the basics and we had a fun evening joking and laughing and somehow I won the game.    As Grandpa, I witnessed him being such a blessing to Jean's girls, Jeanette, Jackie and Sherri May as I'm sure he was to all the other grandkids too.  He was their rock.  But  my truly favorite thing to do at their house was to talk about the Lord.  As I matured in my faith we had some good conversations.    It has always been interesting to me that both my dad and Charlie liked to bowl, became pastors as 2nd careers and loved shopping at Walmart.   Over these last several years, he and LaVerne always asked about my parents,  Ken  and Ruthie Asmussen and kept them in their prayers.  Something I will always cherish.   My grandma went to heaven this time of year as well and God blessed me with these lyrics from Away in the Manger.  God used the words to remind me why we celebrate Christmas. So Jesus could be born, die and then go back to heaven to make a place for us to be with Him there some day. May these words bless my dear friend, Jean and all her family.  Bless all the dear children In Thy tender care And take us to Heaven To live with Thee there.  The world seems a little dimmer without Charlie's smile and laugh but I know heaven is more joyful with his presence.

We met Brother Frost at the Church of God on Reynolds and Rutledge in Springfield in the mid 1980's. We loved to hear him teach and preach the Word of God.

David and I would like to send our condolences to Brother Frost's family and friends. We are keeping you all in our prayers. May God comfort each of you in your time of sorrow.

From Rev Larry Bond I met Charlie Frost on a Sunday morning, when he and Laverne visited our church in Kincaid, Illinois Church where I pastored and I became their pastor. We soon became close friends. When I moved to pastor the Church of God in Benton, Charlie and Larry  came down to go fishing. We were out on the   Lake having a good time. When I caught a big carp, Charlie  said, "Cut the line,  before it snags all of our lines!" But I knew I had caught the biggest fish of the day and I didn't want to give it up. It got exciting when that big wild carp circled the boat and sure enough messed up all of our  lines. We've all laughed about it through the years. I want to close by saying that Charlie Frost was a great friend and a great Man of God! I look forward to seeing him in heaven.

Prayers to the family.  I worked with Charlie at the Service Desk at Walmart Store 3210.  We had a lot of fun singing and dancing in between our customers.  Charlie was one of a kind and will be missed. He always looked me up after he retired if he and Lavern were in the store.

So sorry for your loss. I worked with him at Walmart and then around the corner neighbors in Buffalo. Charles knew no strangers! He was so kind and generous.  He would drive by and honk, if we were out he'd holler howdy neighbor!  We loved visiting with him.

Lots of good memories... the 1st thing that comes to mind is his laugh and when he smiled it was his whole face smiling. I will see you again Uncle.

I’ve known Charlie for a little over 78 years. He was my Hero, Mentor, idol and “guy to look up to”. He taught me to shoot, hunt and fish! He loved hunting but I think he loved fishing a bit more, so much more that he became “A Fisher of men” I believe he loved this “fishing “ more.. we shared many things in life, love of life, love and respect for the outdoors, little secrets that are shared by those you love and trust... we were there for each other when needed. He’s the best roll model I could ever hope to have! I hope that I haven’t disappointed him. I know he understands why I couldn’t be there to see him off.. Carolyn was at the hospital on the day he passed getting a IV treatment from 11:30am to 3pm, some time in the afternoon she turned to me and asked what I wanted? I asked  her “why did you ask me that?” To which she replied “you tapped me on the shoulder “ I didn’t tap her on the shoulder, I believe it was Charlie and he told Carolyn to get better and  she is a little better each day! Yes, I know Charlie! He’s my Brother, I loved him in life and I mourn him in death but I know where he is now. He’s with his Lord and Savior!  RIP Brother, Soldier, Husband, Father,  Grandfathers. Condolences to LaVerne, Mark and family, Jerry and family, Jean and family, Mary and family and Matthew and family..  my Sister Patty Eggerman and family.. My brother in law Tom Rippon and family.. we love you all, Don and Carolyn and family..

Our loss is heaven's gain. Bro. Frost (for this is how I addressed him due to being part of the family of God, brothers in Christ) has finished his journey and work in this life, and has entered that wonderful place he use to preach about called heaven.  I recall how he put his all into all that he did. Put me to work at Westlake Equipment Co. when I was in between pastorates. I never did go fishing with him but I remember he loved to fish, and was really good at it. Funny how Bro. Frost was our pastor for a brief time and I was his pastor for a brief time. He cannot come back to us, and we wouldn't want him too, but we will go to where he is in heaven someday if we know Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord.  Praying for the entire Frost family! May you sense the peace and comforting presence of the Lord.

2nd Sunday of January, my wife and I dedicated our life to Jesus in a service Pastor Charles Frost was preaching.  Fantastic Pastor, gave me amazing advice for a new Christian. I will never forget their family. We’re so honored to be lead by Pastor Charles Frost God given leadership. Once we sanded all the church pews, then put polyurethane on them so that our church pews could be upholstered.  What a wonderful time we all had working together. The first home I knew was my grandparents home. Papa showed me what a family was.He showed me how to take care of  family as well as how to have fun as a family.The love my grandparents have for each other is an absolutely beautiful love story .Papa was my fishing pal,my jokester,my everything. I loved watching papa speak at church.His voice would truly heal the heart .The father figure who always had a listening ear and gentle words that always guided me through life. From Kenneth Lee Frost. I remember Uncle Charlie. He always knew how to make people smile. I loved that he always had something witty to say. And he was a good Dad, husband, brother, and uncle. I miss him a lot. Prayers to everyone that was close to him. He was a good man.

I had the pleasure of meeting Charles Frost close to 20 years ago give or take, by way of dating and eventually marrying his granddaughter. He welcomed me with open arms into his home and few years later into his family. His strong spiritual background and family first dedication was always noticed and admired. He was a role model. This was important to me, especially because both of my grandfathers had passed before I was born. He did so much for so many. Hard to talk about Charlie without bringing up LaVerne. My Grandpa was a sweet, kind, generous, funny, loving man. He loved his family so much! My first memory was him giving me and Jackie a kiss before leaving for work then we would wait after school on the sidewalk for him to come home. From him teaching me how to ride a bike, pulling my first tooth or driving a car, I think my favorite is him walking me down the aisle! He was my friend, my support, my mentor, my paster...  my Grandfather.  I am blessed to know that Grandpa will be watching and waiting for me in the Kingdom of Heaven. I will miss your smile and your voice until then Grandpa, I love you!

I'll never forget my Grandfather and am proud to have called him my Grandpa. I remember going fishing at Sanchris lake,  We would always stop at the tasty treat in Taylorville for a cone before heading back to the house in Buffalo where we would have a good meal and watch a good western, there was no place that housed comfort like Grandma and Grandpas house, and no one could make a pot of chili like my Grandpa. I'm thankful to have had someone to teach me how to shave, how to catch and clean a fish, how to act properly and all around grateful for the knowledge I've obtained from Grandpa over the years of conversing and spending time with him. My wife Grace and I could not be more blessed to have had Grandpa Marry us on July 21st 2018, making our wedding the last ceremony and unification he had done. I'll remember the laughs we had, the memories we had together, and the lessons I learned from him. Grandpa was a wise, warm and gentle soul, he was a great man who served Jesus Christ and took great care of his family and will be dearly missed. We look forward to seeing you again when the time comes Grandpa. Love RooBear

From Bob Edwards Mechanicsburg IL Several years before I came to South Tower Community Church and got saved I didn't know your dad but i ended up on the phone with him somehow. I don't even remember what we were talking about but I'll never forget when he said " can I pray for you Bob?"  Of course I said yes and figured he would include me later.... Oh no we did it right there on the phone! I didn't understand what happened right then. Actually it was kind of weird, but I've never forgotten it.  Years later here we are and I do understand and I feel very blessed and thankful that your dad took the time and made me hear that gospel that day.  God bless......

From James Shoup Fort Madison Iowa. Jerry and I were good friends in the Army station at Siegelsbach Army Depot Germany back in 1980. Jerry and I went to church and all I had for a bible was a small Army issued one. Jerry said his dad, a minister, could send me a nice study bible like he had.  I didnt think it would actually happen but a few weeks after Jerry left to go back to the States I received a real nice bible from his dad that I still have today with the note from him. Thank you Charlie Frost...

I actually think of him every Sunday during praise and worship because he once told me, ‘Honey, there’s something wrong with you.’ Of course I asked what he meant and he said, ‘You just can’t stand still when you sing.’ I tried to stand still the next Sunday, while he sat in the back grinning..... I couldn’t do it and I still can’t.😂 all he could say was ‘told ya!’😂 He was a jewel. He and Laverne were such a positive influence on me and many others. ❤️

This is my Dad. There were so many Great memories that flood my soul and fly into and out of my heart for this wonderful man...my dad. We had some great times together some fun filled laughs to shedding of tears together. There is not enough paper to write out all these happy and sad memories. He was at one time my boss, my landlord, my fishing partner, my pastor, my helper, my leader, my counselor, my prayer partner, and my best friend. This was my dad...Great Memories Dad.

I was privileged to serve with Charlie in the Church of God as his District Overseer but so much more, as a close friend, brother in the fellowship of Christ Jesus. He was a really good man and wonderful preacher, and a true man of God. My honor to have walked together with him.
