

Charles S. “Charlie” Funk, 86, of Litchfield, passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at St. John’s Hospital. He was born on March 11, 1926 in Litchfield, the son of Mike and Katherine (Semploski) Funk. Charlie married Alline Hammen on October 10, 1954 in San Antonio, TX. They celebrated 43 years of marriage together until she preceded him in death in 1997. Charlie proudly served our country in the United States Navy and the United States Air Force. After serving in the military he worked for many years as a barber until he retired. Charlie is survived by brothers and sisters; Regina Nail of Litchfield, Helen Zimmerman of Dublin, Ohio, Sophia Southworth of Litchfield, Mike (Nancy) Funk of Litchfield, Edna (Floyd) Nail of Litchfield, Joe (Carol) Funk of Mt. Olive, and Kate (Jack) Whitehouse of Litchfield, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is also preceded in death by his parents, and brothers and sisters; Stephanie Rousch, Walter Funk, Stanley Funk, Frank Funk, and Louie Funk. Visitation will be on Monday, November 5, 2012 from 1-2pm at Litchfield Family Funeral Home, 700 S State St Litchfield, IL, 62056. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Fr. Ted Schelich conducting the services. Burial will follow at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield.
